I’ve only done it once and it was 10 days (well – 9 1/2).

    road or MTB?
1000 miles in 4 days is pushing it on a MTB.

Well, I’ve done 10 miles in the last 6 months, so probably a bloody long time!

Is that to clock up 1000 miles of normal riding, to set out to do 1000 miles as quickly as possible, or on a ‘normal’ cycle tour or whatever?

    I guess 2 months, 5 days or 2 weeks.

    very subjective question.
When I’m cycle touring I like to do no more than 80 miles a day but something around 60ish a day is very comfortable with breaks.
I spose you might average 10-12mph with breaks so straight out 1000/12=83hrs. or by 9 for very comfortable.

I do 1600 miles most years, so about 40 days.

But I can do 100 in a day, so 10 days?

With training 5 and a bit days for a long Audax ?

Surely it would depend on how long you had and what was worth stopping to see on the way!Is it about doing the 1000 miles or enjoying the journey? 🙂

Eileen Taylor set a 1,000-mile record of 3 days and 1 hour in 1954, which stood for 48 years, until it was broken by Lynne Taylor (2 days 16 Hours).
Gethin Butler has the men’s record of 2 days 7 hours (set by carrying on for a few more miles after breaking the LEJOG record…)

I’m up to 1016 commuting miles as of this evening….took me 85 hours 37 mins, that’s over 75 separate rides and 79,000 ft of climbing. I’m sure I couldn’t ride it in one long 85 hour ride though!

I’ve jut hit 180 miles in a little over 18 hours, so about the same average speed 🙂

My wife took ten days to do 960.

Road bike, large group, van support.

Apparently it was cheating due to not carrying her own gear and crossing an estuary by Ferry 🙄

it would take 1 hour if you were riding at 1000mph 😉

if we are talking about the Endomondo ting then it’s taken me 3d:02h:34m to ride 1012.77 miles this year. So I make that 74 hours 34 minutes (I’ll give you the extra 12.77 miles for nothing).

Not bad for an old grey haired man commuting in central London traffic

Just the riding time? With enough gaps in between I’d be able to knock it out in under 60 hours in favourable conditions, 70 probably more realistic. If we’re talking overall time, I’d want 7 days for a fairly stiff challenge.

20 weeks based on a 10 mile a day commute. It’s the only riding I’m doing atm

Did LEJOG last year (1001 miles) in 72:02 riding time, over 9 days.
