All this talk of falling over seems to suggest many people can’t track stand. Something you should definitely consider learning before thinking about buying pedals to connect yourself to your bike.

No it just means you go to lift your foot off the pedal when you stop forgetting it’s clipped in then people fall over. Shit happens, telling everyone they are crap on a bike isn’t the answer to every question.

There’ll always be GCN vids doing science and scientific papers comparing the Watts and efficiency of flats vs SPDs.

Team Sky will be running flats next year as another marginal gain 😉

I find it’s the flats that are a pain when starting on steep hills. Got calves that are shredded where foot’s gone straight over with the pedal, and also once up to speed, having to bounce about trying to reposition feet, cos you can’t just unweight one and stop pedalling. Or persevere with feet in wrong place until getting to a spot where it’s easier to reposition them.

    SPDs, straight in.

Pick one or the other, try them, or swing both ways and use both.
