  • How do you "quote" somebody in a post on this forum?

    I know it is probably very, very obvious but I can’t see how to quote somebody’s post in a post I’m writing. I’ve search help and could’t find anything there. Whatever I press never works!

    Highlight and copy the text you wish to quote, hit the quote button, paste the text after the quote, hit the quote button again.

    very obvious

    See the button on the Post menu called

    “quote”

    press it once, paste the text then press it again.
    you should see [ quote ] to start the quote and [ / quote ] to end it (with out the spaces) the same applies for images [ img ] http://www.web.com/pic.jpg [ / img ]
    the slash indicates the closing of the action

    Or if you use the Chrome browser then you can install the STW Forum Extender Tools and have an automatic quote facility do the hard work for you 😉

    You’ll never match Junkyard’s advanced quoting skills.

    I thought the obvious answer was “Out of context”.

    Very useful, thankyou – genuinely never knew it existed, installed and working (I think) 😀

    I tend to just put stuff in italics rather than a box.

    the quote box wars on stories like this in my local paper have put me off them;
