  • How can I stop my chain coming off? Single speed malarky

    Aaaargh!

For some reason, the chain has started to part company with the rear sprocket. I know it’s speed related – centrifugal force is causing it to lift off, bang the hub spacer and come off. Six times last night on an 8 mile commute. It’s been fine since the conversion to SS (about 3 weeks) so what’s gone wrong and how can I stop it?

    Merci!

the chain has stretched/worn slightly or the hub has moved int he dropout.

    retension and it’ll be fine.

No tensioner. Just a BMX setup.

    How do I re-tension?

Just slacken the axle nuts, pull the wheel back and nip the nuts up again surely?
