So after my GXP BB bearings apparently turned into shrapnel after less than 200 miles I’m looking at alternatives. It’s the commuter so don’t want to go the the expense of Hope.

Does anyone know if the Hope GXP convertors work on Shimano BBs, these are what I’m talking about http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/hope-bottom-bracket-truvativ-gxp-converter/rp-prod26899

I don’t see why they won’t work as they’re just shimming out the external diameter of the BB bearing.

Oh also I’ll be looking at getting the BB faced as I’d expect even an SRAM BB to last longer than 200 miles!

    As I understand it, no.

The adaptors assume the bearing is a certain width but Shimano runs a placky shroud which’ll mess it all up.

I don’t think the Hope converters will work as expected on Shimano BBs, as they won’t fit through the inside of the cup (which I suspect to be intentionally designed to make bearing removal next to impossible).

l.e. And the plastic shield doesn’t help, either.
