The thing to watch out for is when they define the “home” as the house + outbuildings, but then refer to cover for items in the “house”.

PedalCover – they changed underwriters of the Excess Reduction policy they sell. It transpires that I was given a certificate of insurance – but the insurer and underwriter knew nothing of the policy I had in thier name. I found this out by trying to claim on the excess policy. Sorting it out took weeks – and my eventual payment for £200 was not from the insurer or underwriter, but from the agent PedalCover.
    .
Come renewal time I was told in an email “no changes to cover” – but then sent through a completely different schedule of cover.
    .
I decided that if they were that much hassle to renew with, and happy to mislead/use such a complex system of double policy to reduce excess, then I couldn’t trust them.

Been with Aviva (and claimed) who were good but now expensive.

    Currently with Nationwide.

    Just spoke to Barclays.
Was told max limit for theft from outbuildings is £3k.
    One down, more to check!

Having looked at NW, Barclays & Halifax, it was cheaper to stay with Aviva in the end….!
