There are lots of people wanting to find themselves in pictures from Saturday’s event at the moment. Please post any links to pictures (flckr accounts etc)in this thread but nothing else, otherwise there will still be the need to trawl through loads of posts to find the info!

Moderators – as there wont be many posts the thread will quickly fall away – any chance of making it a sticky for a few days?

Anyway, here are a few links that I have pulled together…

What berms? Have you made this up?

the switchbacky things in the woods.

    your words below! 😆

    He’d love it.

Leave the car in Philips Park and ride down through the old car park into Waterdale. Mail me (in profile) and i’ll send you a map. The flat trails are all finished, the singletrack with the berms and jumps is a work in progress and doesn’t link up properly yet.

There are no way markers, but the site is small and open enough to explore without getting lost.

I know where the berms are…

The problem with them is that they are about as far away from the main field as it gets so photographers don’t tend to see them. The same happens with the water splash and the tunnel.

They can be our little secret. 😉

Yep I saw a few camera flashes illuminating my 1.3mm of air over the hump before the last berm.

I knew where they were and thought they’d be great for taking photos but as you say, they are right at the end of the course. I didn’t make it all the way there at the summer event, not really feasible in a 2 hour event.

edit – still looking for somewhere to host mine since fotopic died and my flickr account is full. Will add a link when they’re up.

they’re about 500 metres from the brass band.

never saw the band. in fact i’ve never seen any of the bands / musicians when i’ve been out taking photos

what I meant was, the band were next to the start/finish. the berms are about a half k walk from the start/finish.
gimme a shout next time and I’ll give you a backy to them 😉

I would have done but I was worried about the ladies marshalling at the far reaches of the course (the proper far reaches of the course, not the nearby berms) 🙂

Finally found somewhere to host the pics!

I got a bit click happy and took 1089 photos in 2 hours on Saturday, totalling almost 30gb – of those, 771 are reasonable quality. Compare that to HTN2.0 when I took fewer than 400 photos in an 8 hour event…

I’ve resized the images to fit in a 600*600 square, perfect for facebook and so on: feel free to save a copy locally and add it to your facebook account, use it as a profile pic etc. WOuld be nice if you leave a comment with a link then I know how my pics are being used.

If you really like the picture, I’ll be able to send out full resolution images (3000*4000, should print fine at A3 size) but will ask you to make a donation to the charity of your choice. A couple that I’ve chosen to support recently are these: you may wish to choose one of them, perhaps.

I’m not going to ask for receipts or anything, just going to leave it to your conscience to donate what you feel the pics (and the participation in the event) are worth, especially given the fact that Mark’s efforts are worthy of sponsorship in any case!

Well done to all who rode and those who put a lot of effort into making things happen smoothly.

No helmet, in the youth race. Bad example. You is *BAD*, man

What a shame the weather changed, the light was beautiful and golden for the youth race, it went all gray and flat for the seniors race

Loads of shortcuts being taken on that bend too I notice. I will install spikes and razor wire next time.

Noooooo! that was the “race” line, you would not believe how much mincing there was round there. I reckon about 10, maybe 15% of people rode the steeper bit. Quite a few looked, then said “no”. Some people even pushed round the “proper” line.

/adds razor wire to shopping list/

the actual, legit line is miles more fun as well. gargh. it’s like my masterpiece has been spat upon 😉

Lots of line choices just made for lots of close racing 🙂

You appear to be braking there Dave, you might be a bit quicker if you didn’t do that

I’m also braking (with both brakes fully on by the looks of it), however I’m not wearing a helmet so will surely snap my head off if I go above 10mph.

Shoes don’t match the rest of the outfit either 😳

    Bit amateur all round really.

It is that long since I’ve ridden a bike round there I have no idea where that bit is.

Is it near the “Meteor Strike”?

PS Dave, better buck your ideas up now that Phil has got a “Works” ride. There are only so many places in the van.

it’s in between the second exit from the main field and The Chin. Just before that seemingly random wooden post.
