What is a lightweight, strong material with good sonic transmission capabilities? One that lets sound through easily

In other words – what would you use to waterproof a really small microphone?

    clingfilm?

Always used it on my mobile when riding – can do calls with it on.

It needs to be tougher than that. Imagine maybe like a mobile phone case – but that lets sound through really easily. What are phone cases made out of?
