Can I use the word eager in an application letter?
    "
Furthermore, I do believe I can be an asset to your team, and I am eager to learn more skills in the field of cheminformatics.
    Yours sincerely,

    "

    Cheers

As a practising grammar nazi, I'd say it's fine.

Your thread should have started with "Help of the….". The capital H would indicate the start of your statement/question. 😉

On another note, I'd remove the "I do believe I can be" and replace it with "I am sure I would be".

    Bonne chance, mon vieux!

No comma before the "and" though…..

You could get rid of the "do" and the 2nd comma for me

(and cheminformatics is a made-up word, surely they'll look it up & catch you out ?!) 😉

I'd say keep the comma before the 'and', and remove the 'I' immediately after it. That will make for a perfectly shaped, well-punctuated sentence.

Let's hear it for the Oxford comma.
