    Unless I can set Chrome to pretend to be a mobile browser perhaps?
    I have about 20kbps (that’s kiloBITS!)

    It’s doing my noggin in! I try to access the mobile versions of sites but certain ones autodetect and throw me back to the full desktop version.

    Opera compresses things which should help a little.

    you can turn off all images in chrome, all plug ins and java etc. should help a bit.

    You might get away with changing your user agent string to something mobile. That’s probably how the auto-detect is working.

    No, 30 miles North of Aberdeen. In 1999 I was enjoying must faster speeds on dialup.

    Well done – I was just coming back to this thread, having remembered how I did it in Chrome (had looked in settings, but didn’t remember initially that I needed to go into dev tools). Though it’s changed from what it says in that first article.
