Absolutely love this gem of a debut album just released from Dog Daisies which nobody will have ever heard of.

Heard them on 6Music, can’t remember if it was Lamaq or Marc Riley who’s played them, it may even have been LaLa, I only get to listen on the commute to and from work for about forty minutes each way, but I still get to hear some cracking new stuff.
Iggy played a Slipknot track tonight, while I was waiting to pick my g/f up from work which I rather liked, to my surprise!
Ghost have a new album I believe, heard a track from that on 6 a little while ago which I rather liked.
I would suggest the OP buy Uncut magazine every month, lots of good reviews of new music every month, plus a free fifteen track sample CD to listen to as well.

Also Lorn. Very John Hopkins if you like that stuff.

Thank you, I’ll give Lorn a listen this morning.

Fair bit of Lorn stuff can be had for free on his bandcamp page, if you’re not the streaming type. Well, you can stream from there too.
If you’re venturing over to bandcamp, also look up Throwing Snow.

New clipping album is pretty amazing.

    Your favourite album this year

    W.H.Lung – Incidental Music

Your favourite all time for anything

The New Pornographers’ new one is great too. “In the morse code of brake lights.”

    The New Pornographers’

    Wow, they still at it?

Musical-families mention for Dan Bejar’s (Destroyer) ‘Rubies’. He’s probably ‘Marmite’ I expect, but I’ve played it to death for over a decade.

Michael Kiwanuka’s new album is something very special.

I concur, it’s a great album. If you have an ear for soul OP try Black Pumas self titled debut, a brilliant album. If you fancy giving country another go Sturgill Simpson’s Sound and Fury might help you change your position on it. Even has an accompanying anime if you have Netflix.

Clippings latest is a dark album, but has some good tunes. I’m still trying to figure out if I like MCID from Highly Suspect.

Just to make sure my music posts are consistent, listen to Clutch.

If you haven’t been following “Underworld – Drift” over the past year then the new “Drift Series 1 Sampler” may be worth a listen, Ive had it on repeat for the past few days and it’s bloody excellent, i had nothing better to do this afternoon so just back in from a long drive through the back roads of the galloway hills whilst listening to it very loud on my tiguan dynaudio system, perfectly soundtracked the scenery as the sun went down.

In desperation to get away from film music and games music on R3 and Cfm on Saturday afternoon I discovered and to my surprise I find myself liking R6 Music 15.00 onwards followed by Craig Charles. Funk and Soul are great while prepping and cooking.
Particularly would recommend Ashley Henry and others from the new jazz movement.

Let the spotify algorithms find it for you? The more you use spotify the better they get and I find it very good at finding me new music that I like.

On the back of mentions on this thread i’ve bought “Michael Kiwanuka” & “Fontaines DC – Dogrel”, both bloody excellent, I’d been meaning to check them out but the prompts above (and purchase of the new airpods) piqued my interest enough to give them a listen.

Dance music seems to be in a pretty good place at the moment.

Stumbled across this the other day, brilliant track and sounds like an absolute classic from the early/mid ’90s…

I check out thequietus.com for loads of new musical trails, especially the Baker’s Dozen feature where artists list their fave 13 albums and say why. Richard Dawson did his recently leading me to Endless Boogie and some more.
Be prepared for some real weird shit though.

I’m the opposite, I find Spotify is ace for looking for new music, and there is tons of it out there.

Recommend the following random bands/acts from a wide spectrum of music- not all new but some that may have passed you by and still worth checking out.

Temples, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Shame, Public Practice, Avalon Emerson, Jagwar Ma, Bodega, Parcels, Julia Jacklin, Helado Negro, Sinkane, Idles, Drugdealer, Confidence Man, The Chats, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ezra Furman, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Boy Azooga, Altin Gun, Big Thief, The Comet is coming, Durand Jones & The Indications, The Beths & Whitney.

In addition to the above, the latest Hot Chip and Chemical Brothers are two of the best records of the year.

    Enjoy!

By ‘new’ do you mean breaking artists or simply newly released stuff?

If the latter, I am really enjoying the new Elbow album – I had never never been a fan of them until now but thought I would try it out and within seconds I was thinking ‘ohhh, this sounds like early Peter Gabriel solo stuff’. It turns out they are quite pally, have covered each other’s stuff a bit and Guy Carvey was heavily influenced by Gabriel as a teenager.

Cheers. I did check out a fair bit of his other stuff, all good with amazing production values – but a bit more on the “intelligent techno” side.

The track I linked takes me back to classics like this…

Find an album list you like the look of, and work through it from last to first:

    http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk

No cheating: even if you don’t like the artist you have to listen to the full album.

2019: Annie B Sweet, supporting act to the Temples upcoming tour.

All-time: just work through one of the lists mentioned above. This one’s a decent start: http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/nme_d&d.html#50DIE

I meant new to me, it could be an album from 1970 for all I care, I’ve been enjoying the perfect album thread and listening to radio 6 weekly playlist and radio 6 top 100 mostly this week, enjoyed some of the stuff on this thread too but too much to get through at the moment

Thanks for all your input so far though guys

A fellow Katzenjammer fan! Never thought I’d see the day! If you like them, Sol Heilo’s solo stuff is good. She’s brilliant live.

Been turned on to Allie X this week, after catching the tail end of her supporting Marina. Whose new album is also ace, in an upbeat ’90s sort of way.
