Just tried to remove from a mates wheel, it’s solid. The wheels are RS30 shimano and fairly new.
Snapped the chain whip in the process.
He had the plumber in at the time so we blow torched and then dowsed in water.
    No good.
    Then soaked in wd40.
We’ve left it for a bit
    Any other options?

so we blow torched and then dowsed in water

did the plumber “sort” anything else?

wd40 first, plumber 2nd is not a piece of advice I’d normally give for bike spannering but seems appropriate

    got a vice ?

wrap an old chain round the cassette and “fix” it tight in the vice, then use your cassette tool and a nice long lever

It won’t be seized, just tight.

Get the tool in a vice.

How are you holding the wheel? I’ve found that if it’s vertical you can use your body weight rather than just strength alone it helps. Though as in your case the chainwip breaking would have been an embarrising faceplant.

I’ve got a piece of old chain attached to the workbench for these moments

Wheel vertical butted up against the workbench….

Thanks all, my mate tried again later, managed to get it off.
    WD40 must’ve had some effect.
    Chain tool is buggered though.
