My fault chucked in an oily rag-came out clean but now my washing machine stinks of grease!

Just chucked in a load of diluted bleach…

Slaps head will not ever put in greasy rag again…

Bleach is a really bad idea as it’ll go for the rubber seals. Hopefully, you’ll get away with it as a one-off.

It was diluted but some washing tablets have bleach in them anyway.

Came out ok but still slight smell-off to get some proper cleaner.

We have used bleach for years to clean washing machines and its not done any harm yet…

Dam missed out on shopping today but managed to buy some Distilled white Vinegar from Tesco.

Chucked a cupful in and one in the barrel.

Also added some more at a halfway cleaning cycle.

Sorted-ish.

The clothes don’t smell of anything. Grease smell weaker in the drum and more detergent etc.

After doing the duvet cover and sheets I’ll be risking my riding gear!

Will buy some proper cleaner soon. But White Vinegar is great. Has a low boiling point so don’t put the machine too high without being at home if it happens to you! 😀

An empty boil wash with normal detergent is my usual trick after using Nikwax TX10. Keeps the bugs down as well.
