Headphones Again

I know there has been a thread on headphones recently, but hear me out.

Ideally, I’d go and buy a set of Shure215 headphones from amazon for £92 now and be done with it. But, these don’t have any inline controls for use with an iPhone. However, this is a must-have for me.

So, I’m looking for recommendations for a set of in-ear headphones with an inline remote for around or under £100. Replaceable cables would be good, but otherwise good quality ones which last more than a year like any other headphones I’ve used, including my £50 Sennheiser i300s.

I could live without the remote if I didn’t use a lifeproof phone case, but it’s too much faff to unscrew the headphone adapter for this every time I get a phone call.

Ultimate Ears.

Any particular model to recommend?

Shure do an IPhone lead for their headphones.

I use one with my 425’s. They are about £40 though but work very well and you can take calls with them.

The lead allows you to advance a track to next, go back a track, change volume, pause, play, talk on the phone with just three buttons.

The 215’s have replaceable leads, the only ‘phones under approx. £300 to do so, and there’s an alternative lead for iPhone use for £40 or so, as coolhandluke points out. And the 215’s can be had for around £75, so with the extra lead that’s about £120. I use 215’s, either with the iPhone lead or the standard lead; dead easy to swap them over.
I also use UE’s, but the cheaper ones with replaceable leads, like the SuperFi 3 and 5 models are no longer available, AFAIK, only the TripleFi 10 Pro, and they’re way beyond your price range.
Even cheap on fleabay; mine were $160.

I have the UE 400vi, not the most expensive, but they survived a trip throughout the wash.

You can have my old iPhone lead for £10.

Part of the outer casing has split, taped it up and wires inside were fine., right ear occasionally cuts out for a moment.

I use my headphones and iPhone lead nearly every day in work for up to 3 or 4 hours at a time, surveying away, usually in the middle of nowhere listening to music, taking calls whilst carrying on with my job,

Wouldn’t be without them or the iPhone lead.

Thanks all, ordered the Shure 215s for £65 and the cable with the iPhone controls for another £35, bringing everything in bang-on budget.

Result! Nicely done, enjoy. Try all the various eartips, I favour the triple-flange ones, they really isolate background noise, but, you do have to make sure you get them properly seated or else the bass will be compromised.
The trick is to slightly moisten them before putting them in, and pulling the top of the ear up and out which opens the ear-canal up.
Once you get the knack you can generally do it one-handed. Surprising what a difference it makes, and the eartips are much easier to clean off with antiseptic wipes if needed, without taking them off; mine have actually formed themselves into the shape of my inner ear!
