Workable bodge for SS-ing a vertical dropout frame, or just a pain?

Works great but soon stretch like knicker elastic. Best compromise I have had is standard KMC bmx chain, with a solitary half link added to get the correct length.

Or a normal chain and tensioner, doesn’t look as nice, but it works…..

If you get the magic ratio right, it works great….for an hour or so! Get a tensioner

Just a pain. Worked well for the first two rides, had stretched so much on ride three that I nearly ran out of horizontal adjustment on a single speed specific frame, snapped/sheared on ride four. Probably best to use one or two to fine tune but make sure they are up to the job if you are planning on stomping up hills.

like your first answer they work in principle but the links have kinks which soon elongate.

    Right, bin that idea then.

Have an eye on a frame I really like (because it’s orange, ad I’ma tart) but it’s vertical drops, and I’d want to run it SS (without an ugly tensioner, because I’m a tart).
