    i have a Line 6 Spider 3 amp and am starting to get to a level where i am wanting to record my songs etc. i have had a look on t'internet and there is so much info on it i dont know what to do.

    can anyone give me some advice on what i need and how to do it please?

    For quick music recording I use Audacity. Its a basic PC based recorder where I simply plug a mic into the laptop and record. It can be used with mixing hardware, but I don't use it for that.

    if you want to go for quite a pro set-up for reasonable cash, your best bet is to invest in a external soundcard with a few ins and outs (m-audio is a good start manufacturer wise) and then invest in a pro – tools set up (in fact an Mbox 2 will solve both problems being an external soundcard with inputs and outputs and comes bundled with the software!)…check it out:
