    After some local knowledge.

Gang of us riding Hamsterley next Sunday for The Beast. Thinking about riding somewhere on the drive up Saturday. Guisborough was mentioned but then we think there may have been some felling up there?

Anyone know the state of play there at the moment?

    TIA.

Don’t know which direction you are coming from but Dalby was riding well this weekend despite heavy rain on Friday evening.

By all accounts Kilburn too apart the exits which was the same at Dalby.

There has been a lot of felling but it is localised to one area of the woods currently and it is probably best to avoid that bit as the log stacks are blocking the exit of some trails. The rest of the woods are fine however we did have a lot of rain last Friday but it is drying up well this time as year. Forecast looks good for the week so hopefully should be dry for this weekend. Have you rode it before? It is unlike most other riding locations in the fact that pretty much every trail is natural and can also be hard to find, if you take a wrong turn you can loose a lot of elevation and it’s a long way back up with steep climbs. All that said it is a fantastic place to ride with some amazing trails.

As bandit says, ongoing felling has ruined some of the best trails (Chevronz, stripes amongst others),  and in other sections even some of the fire roads have been trashed (no dabs marsh)

There’s still plenty good stuff though, a loop taking in Roseberry steps, bluebells and elephants foot/ bleeding knuckles and up to gribdale/ Cooks monument would be a good little outing, especially if it stays dry!
