All the pies and mr Munro win. If you look closely, the shonky spore 'sculptures' give it away.

To be honest, it was the lat and lon from your iphone that gave it away 🙂

From judging the position of the sun at that grid ref I would say that picture was probably taken at around 15.21 and 14 seconds on the 11th of October.

    Sound about right?

good detective work – but isn't that cheating? My first thought was Grizedale, it reminded me of the track near Breasty Haw, but I couldn't bring to mind anywhere with a carpet of roots like that. Looking at the grid ref I don't think I've ridden that bit…

I don't think it contravened anything in the guess the location rule book issued by the IGTLA. Maybe you've got a non association rulebook.

well, it ain't guessing for sure, but then for that matter, recognising the terrain ain't either :o)

It's definitely a guess, as I've no idea if it's an up to date or accurate location from the phone 🙂

That's because it's a footpath, and you would never ride on a footpath.

By the way how do you convert lat and long into a grid reference?

Just to the right of the bottom of the descent is a sign warning walkers that the path is open to cyclists.

    And http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong-gridref.html
for converting lat lon to grid refs.

You can do it in Memory Map.
