I’m about to finally get my RAG+ build under way and am looking at some flared style bars to go with it. I currently have some compactish Deda RHM and find my wrists hit the bends when in the drops so the flare makes sense but have also tried some On-One Midge bars in the past and found them a bit too extreme.

What are the options out there for £50 or less? Easton AX look ok, as do the Ritchey Venture Max apart from that ergo bump thing, which I just found annoying on some similar road bars of theirs.

    Cheers

There is so much choice out there & a vast range of flair.

I have the Easton EA70AX on my cross bike, 16′ of flair adds 68mm of width to the bar in the drops. I really like them, the flair is quite subtle, but is definitely present, i find the extra width on the drops of benefit when descending.

Here you go, (excuse my shonky bar tape wrapping) – and to be honest, i’m not sure this pic actually helps!

Big fan of Salsa Cowbells in the widest version for moderate off-road stuff.

I really like the Droptune bars on my Grade – perfect flare for me – but don’t know if you can buy them separately.

Another Genetic Digest user on my singlespeed – really like the way that the brake lever hoods and angle of the drops integrate to provide a large area to distribute the load i.e. less of a ‘point’ load in comparison to a regular drop bar and lever which really helps on rougher offroad sections with a rigid bike.

Another Salsa Cowbell user, 46cm on the hoods, flare out to 49.5cm on the drops, a nice shallow drop that is very comfortable.
