Looking at a pair of these for my new steel commuter/gravel/road/bike bike.

anyone run them in 32mm guise? How do they run on the tarmac as I would be riding both on and off road with these.

Really fancied something with a bit of bite for the off road sections but something than can also be enjoyable on the road, also looked at conti cyclocross speed but they seem a bit puncture prone and wear a bit keenly.

    Cheers

I’ve been running the 28mm and they’re great. Think the 32mm ones are different….
Previously I ran the Conti CX speed in 32mm and thought they were good…

I just swapped from Specialised Triggers to Roubaixs, they look pretty similar to Gravel Kings.
Little less tread & a lot faster on the road than Triggers, but still adequate off road.

Not used them, but interested if anyone can compare them to the compass tyres, barlow pass etc…cant’ really afford the compass tyres.

Dunno, but I’m picking up some Teravail Sparwood tomorrow afternoon 😉
For mixed riding we’ve been using Clement X’plor USH 35s, and for biggerer stuff X’plor MSO 40s.

Went from Vittoria 32c XN Pro CX or whatever their damp death tires are called to Gravel Kings in 28c and I am really impressed with them.

Haven’t had much rain here, so don’t know if they are going to spit me off on the first sign of damp road again, but they have been great on loose gravel, dirt, shit tarmac and everything in between.

I’ll do a u-turn on a fast hill again in the damp and report back on the outcome if it is similar to the vittorias or not.

I do have Kenda Kommandos for the wet season, not sure how the Gravel Kings will fair on the claggy red clay that builds up on the back roads here.

These things – death grip tires on damp tarmac.

Will be tested in similar conditions to see if it happens again

Struggling to decide between the 28’s and 32’s at the moment and the 28’s keep getting decent write-ups

Running 32s. Road rides with the local road club and rides on the local trails in Leight woods and Ashton Court. Impressed. Grippy not too heavy and run tubeless for low pressures. Also pretty cheap.

Not great in deep mud though.

I’m a clement fan, xplor mso or ush. Both roll fast, the ush is a little more road focussed. Both are great tyres for mixed riding with a road bias in my experience

FWIW according to strava neither are significantlY slower than duranos on road on ,y steel charge cx bike

    Good stuff,

These will be on a charge plug ceepers and the Clement were another option but didn’t know how good the USH would be on the road.

    Food for thought chaps

I’ve had the mso on the charge for most of the last year for on and off road (local lanes are almost “off road” at the moment. Just bought some ush which seem quicker on road and OK grip off.

To be honest the bike is always a couple of mph slower than my carbon roadie on a road ride whatever tyres I use so I haven’t bothered swapping the Duranos back on at all this winter. The Clements seem a good compromise to be honest. I’ve done a 50 mile exmoor road ride in midwinter on them !
