Is there a 1×11 option (probably 42 front and 11-42) that can be used with cable discs? Or are they all hydro now…

Just use road shifters (105)? With a grx rear derailleur.

TRP do some nice brake only levers (planet x have them cheap last I checked) but they do look and feel different.

I’ve gone 1x using one of them but am now considering buying a cheap Tiagra left hand shifter and imobilising the shifting mechanism somehow.

I’ve used Ultra levers with XT rear mech for just that gearing.

    Thanks for replies

Trailwagger – would prefer to avoid APEX, have had problems previously….

    Ampthill – I thought 105 and GRX weren’t compatible?

Jobro – 11 speed Ultegra and 11 speed XT?

I’ve been using 105 and GRX in 2x mode absolutely fine, only incompatibility I know of is between 105 front derailleur and GRX cranks (cranks are 5mm more outboard than mech can cope with, certainly on my bike anyway).

GRX rear mech is compatible with all 11sp Shimano road STis.

1×11 with that much range would lead to pretty minging jumps when on road, no?

5lab: for a pure road bike possibly. Works for me for gravel/commute
