Next door neighbour spotted a snake in his back garden yesterday, says about 3 foot long and he thinks a grass snake, they have been in the house 30 odd years and never seen one before so I assume the wet weather has meant it can or is motivated to make the journey 1/2 mile through gardens to get there from the local pond where there are a good number of grass snakes and adders.

Their garden and ours is only seperated by a bit of old fence so I assume from time to time I have a snake in my garden, which right now has rather long grass, some bags of old cuttings and a fence that I have been meaning to take to the dump for the last month and lots of weeds under the bushes.

My query is, when is the best time of day for me to move all the rubbish and cut the lawn down so I don’t scare or come face to face with the deadly black mamba; I’m not scared of snakes you understand but I have kids and I need to make sure they arent eaten alive
