Could any of the tech gurus on the forum help me with a strange home Wi-Fi problem?
I have a Google mesh system, with 4 x wifi pucks (original USB-C power cable models) connected to a Virgin Media Hub3 which is set to modem mode and is on a 250mbps fibre connection.
Streaming (Netflix, iplayer etc) and internet browsing all word fine, as does YouTube. Fast dot com reports >230mpbs via Wi-Fi in the same room as the router puck
However, if I want to download larger files e.g. GoPro videos from a cloud server, or download films from iPlayer or Netflix onto a device the Google Wifi router crashes
This happens every time I try to download a large (e.g. video) file, and also seems to happen randomly (maybe twice weekly). Obviously this is very annoying!
When it happens the router initially shows a solid blue light, then starts to flash blue, then eventually goes back to solid white.
The frequency of this error seems to be increasing since I upgraded from 125mbps to 250mbps fibre. It’s almost like the Google Wi-Fi system can’t deal with the faster 250mpbs connection, which seems really unlikely.
I’ve tried the usual factory reset etc, and the Google Home app reports the mesh connections are all good. The VM Hub is a few years old but the fibre connection seems rock solid and is always 250. Checked via the Google Home app and via connecting my laptop directly to the hub.
When the Google router resets the VM Hub doesn’t, so I’m 99% sure the problem is all Google mesh related
Please can someone help me troubleshoot the issue?
