Looking for a good torch for dog walking etc ebay ?

    I’ll start by suggesting, of course, what I bought for exactly this purpose;

    Muon

Different modes for visibility but then also for keeping track of dog and having two hands free for bagging pooh. Came with a free flashing red ‘blip’ led for making yourself visible from the rear.

    I use these… http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/261174252820?_mwBanner=1

Great for dog walking, general household use or as helmet mounted light. Small enough for pocket but kick out a good beam when needed. Light enough that can be used as a head torch with a torch head strap off ebay. Cheap enough that i have a couple and can afford to replace them when i invariably lose one (wasted an hour today trying to find one) 😳

Yep, as nuke – been using one of those for a good few years.
Would also recommend one of these as a cheap solution to keeping track of the hound: http://r.ebay.com/fQZpYf

Also this from Alpkit Prism 550. Although you will also have to buy some rechargeable CR123A batteries

Head torch like the Alpkit is a good idea, but a small bright torch that you can just stick in a pocket is always good to have. I’ve recommended this torch many times, I use mine all the time, and it’s even cheaper now: http://www.dx.com/p/trustfire-r5-a3-cree-xp-e-r5-3-mode-230-lumen-memory-led-flashlight-1-aa-1-14500-39062?utm_source=dx&utm_medium=edm&utm_campaign=20120912#.VocmPa_fWK0
It really is a very bright, very handy and well made little torch, I’ve got three, I might get a couple more at that price.
I use 14500 Li-ion rechargeable batteries, at 3.7v they’re brighter, but a AA will work.
Even smaller, using AAA, is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ThruNite®-Ti-Key-ring-Flashlight-Lumen/dp/B00QQBOW0G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1447804441&sr=8-2&keywords=ThruNite®+TiS
Great keyring torch, incredibly bright for its size. Both would work as a headtorch with a Nite-ize headband.

£1.80, free delivery (allow a week or so) and runs off a single AA battery. I have a few of these in various jacket pockets, used only for walking the dogs. Small enough to hold between teeth whilst fiddling with poo bags!

two hands free for bagging pooh.

You would put a bear in a plastic bag? 😮

Good call on hands free however, you need two hands to effectively tie the bag onto the nearest set of railings.

You only need 1 hand free to fling it up into a tree thought!

look on amazon for any of the Cree torches, or the petzel head torches are also great.
don’t be fooled by the low price… great bits of kit that Ive relied upon for years.

I use the headband that came with my cree and an extension cord for the battery pack. That gives enough light to be able to tramp through woods in the middle of nowhere and a decent light on low beam too.

The battery pack is a bit heavier, but you can get alternatives that are still strong and take AA rechargeables, like this
