Brewery Tap, Lower Bridge Street – Could be slightly old man but good.
    The Architect – Nicholas Street.

There is the Spitting Feathers’ The Brewery Tap on Lower Bridge Street. Its not an old mans pub but does have a good range of real ale.

I’ve not been there for a few years and the Bear and Billet which may be a bit to flat cap and cardigan.

Cheers all! Old man bar defined (by my lass) by the smell and low levels of light…

Not the Liverpool Arms or Little Oak or the Cottage FFS.

In order of poshness, poshest at top..

    The Architect
    Harkers
    Telfords
    Cellar Bar
    Brewery Tap

All good for proper beer. Harkers does suffer from braying hoorays some of the time but probably has the best choice & quality of ale. Brewery Tap have their own Brewery – Spitting Feathers. Good food available at the Architect, Harkers, Telfords + Brewery Tap.

lol I had a first date in the Harkers once (her suggestion)

The only place I’ve bought a Red wine (average size) and a pint pulled out a tenner and realized it wasn’t enough FFS

£13.00 for two drinks I nearly **** fell over

    Me “This your local?”
Her “Now just a nice place to meet”
Me “Not surprised at these prices!”
Her “Yes you run out of money before you’d be pissed in here!”

    😀

Only been to the Cottage once recently and TBH it had a good vibe & beer but I wouldn’t be taking the missus to Brook Street for a night out drinking – granted there are less drug transactions going on during the day now. Is the Little Oak ok these days? It was my local but not been for ages – I thought it was a Carling and John Smiths type of place. You are right about the wanchors – I’ll only go to Harkers when it’s quiet.
