I’ve started to listen to a podcast on the science of ultrarunning on my long runs as I’m thinking of taking it up later in the year, plus many of the topics apply to equally long distance triathlons, Audaxes, 24 hour solos or long days in the saddle.
I’ve only listened to a few as I’m working my way back through them. He has some interesting guests on one a few weeks ago was the US Army’s expert on hydration, they seemed to talk an awful lot about weighing urine.
I listened to this episode today and it was really good to hear a proper academic talk about protein intake, how much someone who is training needs and when to eat it and what to eat it with. It’s a bit dry and sciencey but i found it fascinating and so much better without the marketing or pseudo-science that often surrounds the topic.
