what kind of food you after?

French living for french food – would be my first choice.
    Kayal Backwater for curry
Tamatanga – wagamama style but curry, really good

Iberico Tapas is supposed to be very good, never managed to get in myself. Pubs: Keane’s Head
Bistro Pierre (sort of chain affair) but food always very good.
    Agree with French Living

Didn’t there used to be a Malaysian restaurant in Nottingham?

I’d second Bistro Pierre and Kayal. How about the alley cat caffe for some vegy food or Tharn Thai in Hockley. All tasty food but my favorite is the platters at Kayal.

    Mmmmm

    Tharn Thai

I found that disappointing, Lantong was better, more authentic (according to my half thai ex)

Not forgetting Abrakebabra. Failing that, Bistro Pierre as previously mentioned.

Iberian Delight? It’s one of my favourite lunch destinations.

Iberico is my favourite restaurant, can’t beat the patatas bravas.

What’s your budget? World Service is my personal favourite – especially if your looking for something intimate.

    A vote DOWN for Kayal.

I couldn’t eat ANYTHING. Perhaps I should have done some research but I would have thought *something* would be available there that didn’t have nuts or coconut in it!?
    😕

The new Jamie Oliver place is apparently quite good. Merchant’s is also good (£££). For atmosphere the Jazz Cafe (Broad St) is quite good.

    The Lobster Pot.
I know I know. Strange to recommend a fish restaurant in the middle of the country but the food is amazing.
You won`t be disappointed( If you like fish of course).
there also used to be a place called “bees make honey”. Had a michelin starred chef.
Not sure if its still about though.
p.s. these aren`t in the main city centre but within walking distance.

Bees make honey was very good but, unfortunately, disappeared a few years ago. The Laguna used to be the best Indian Restaurant – just off Maid Marion way.

Harts was also very good – although I haven’t been for a couple of years. If you don’t have a budget, you could always try Hotel des Clos; Sat Baines’ place.

Just about my favourite place is The Larder on Goosegate… have always had fantastic meals there, and not that expensive…

But one day I will go to Sat Baines’ restaurant…. one day…

AdamW… to be fair, Kayal specialises in Indian food from one specific region, which just happens to have a lot of nuts and coconut in it. It is very very good though… the one in Leicester is also very good.
