Trying to make final choices on a possible Titus Goldrush build following the demise of my Ti456 and looking to use the extensive 9 sp spares in my collection to keep the build cost down.

The Goldrush is designed for 1x. Px build it 1×11 with 42t x 11/42.  I could do 1×9 with an 11/34 cassette and maybe a 36T ring from my spares, although that’s not a wide narrow ring so I may end up buying a new ring anyway.   Not out of the question.

However I have a brand new xtr front mech and new 32t and 44t rings. I could try a clamp on cable stop to run the cable to the mech but I have no idea about chain line and chainstay clearance.  Would a 32t ring sat on the middle of a slx or xt crank fit the frame or foul the chainstay?

I’d ask px but I’m trying not to be too bothersome as Ben has been super helpful helping with my replacement frame,  I don’t want to wear his patience thin!

    Thanks.

Are you intending to run drops or a flat bar?

As road shifters & MTB shifters run different cable pulls AFAIK

    Road shifter/brakes aren’t cheap…

My intention would be flat bar, with my current shimano xt brake levers so long as they would work with new shimano grx flat mount calipers.  Shifter, I’ll probably buy a new 9 sp alivio as my old 9 speed deore are ancient.  Similarly I may get a new front shifter.

If using flat bars, rather than GRX flatmount calipers you could just use adaptors to fit any existing MTB-style calipers to the flatmount frame/fork.

I’m using older SLX calipers on my flatmount Cascade frame using an adaptor, with GRX 11-sp dropbar levers.

Ooo can you?  Right that’s handy to know.  My current calipers have had nothing done to them since fitting and need a good clean up. Corrosion may have set in on the pistons too, but if a can use an adapter I ought to check and reuse if possible.
