Cannot find one place to mount the camera on my orange five with the supplied sticky mounts…… Makes me spend more money….. On the roll bar mount if that even fits around the frame?!?

Try fitting them to a non girder like frame, even more difficult !!! I’ve managed to use the helmet mount strap in a few places on the frame using the angle arms . Or use interior mirror pads for cars instead of the standard sticky pads . .

Came up with the idea of wrapping the chest mount round my camelbak facing backwards [video]http://youtu.be/aM8M2qjkYz0[/video]

i made an oversize mount that fitted around the down tube on my five to do the fancy forks shot, basically it was two ‘c’ shaped bits of plastic joined together around the downtube and then the mounts stuck on the side. Worked a treat in the alps. oh and fit a lanyard, mine was doubled through the shock mount. Belt and braces approach.

For big frames use the helmet straps to hold it to the frame and tape to stop it rotating. A client left me some footage and it works great, I am yet to upload it anywhere though.

The handle bar mount is also pretty usefull

Those sticky mounts just dont seem the sort of thing I want to hang £300 from!

While i’m at it, here is a vid using the chesty mount (which i think is the best)and a handlebar mount in various positions.

Dont bother to buy a chest mount because you can make one out of the useless (for biking anyway) head mount that comes with the GoPro and some webbing.

How would you make it from the headband mount mate? Used the helmet mount around the lower bar of my orange five today, held really well but a bit too close to the frame…

Get rid of all the elastic, don’t cut it because you might be able to use it for the bodge.

The bit that goes horizontally round your head you need to replace with a longer strap. It needs to be large enough to go around your chest.. I used the waist straps from a couple of old camelbaks but some thing more elastic would be better as it would allow you to breathe – if you can be bothered to do some stitching you could probably use the old elastic..

The bit that goes vertically over your head you need to replace with a loop, done so you can hang the camera round your neck like a tie. This one stops it sliding down and bouncing around. I used elastic from a hardware shop tied in a knot.

For me to get the right angle I had to bolt the camera in upside down and use the upside down filming setting. I also stuck a larger rectangle of plastic to the back of the mount to stop it wobbling.

There is some footage from it at 37 to 55 seconds (prior to enlarging the mount so a bit of bounce going on).

They’ll soon be some footage of me riding and falling off slowly on various bikes to once my HD2 arrives 😀
