As the title suggests, I’m interested in what is a decent pace for a full lap of the Red run at GT including the matrix climb.

The gumph on their website says it should take between 1.5-3 hrs and is ‘advanced’. But given I can do it in 90 minutes and am far from at an advanced level (only been cycling for 6 months) this doesn’t seem particularly accurate!

I’m keen to know what an average club level cyclist does it in, I’m guessing 1.05-1.15 ish??? Need a time to aim at!

    Prize for the fastest 😉

Does the clock start/stop when you leave/enter Peel carpark, or start/leave the single track?

Haven’t a clue. We spent more time talking rubbish than riding usually.

computer says 1:24, 1:20, 1:15 back to back last September. I might have a go tomorrow. Should we start a top gear style board?

Jeez – it takes me 53 minutes of general faffing about in the car park, getting past the bike shop, the cafe…

I like the times for Spooky and Berm Baby though – I’m not last at somethings!

I don’t know but I did the black, red, and blue in 04:20 in that order, including stops for food etc.

Normally about 1.5hours but I love the pie run so ride the matrix & then ride back up the fire road.
Oh and I have to ride the blue descent from the buzzards nest car park so climb back up for that.
When I started riding there in 2005 I could ride it in 1:15 but the route has been altered since then.
I think anything under an hour in good.
That’s now my incentive to lose the belly. Thanks.

I only ever use one leg at GT.

    Three would seem unfair.

Sure I’ve done it in about an hour. AS discussed on another thread I’ve done the back/innerliethen/red as a training ride a couple of times. Last time I did it on my own at racing pace and the whole lot including riding between GT and Inners took 5.5hours. I faffed a bit stopping back at the car for resupply of food. I would have been knackered too so fresh legs under 50 minutes would seem doable.

Actually, the route guide says 18km (11.1 miles) so under an hour easy, under 50 minutes would be tough but maybe doable if you didn’t plan on doing much else for the rest of the day.

I’m not sure I’ve ever done the red from start to finish without either doing extra little bits en route or missing bits out, never mind stopping to talk crap.

Usual rule is no pedalling after the first roller.

And this is the reason I don’t like trail centres – they’re not meant to be racetracks.

Ah bugger – there used to be some cracking wee trails hidden in there.

SBZ- I don’t think berm baby berm removed any interesting trails, it’s quite compact- hugs right to the side of the road beside the freeride area. The ones further along are still there.

they’re not meant to be racetracks.

We’re not allowed to try and ride our bikes fast? Is that something that only happens at trail centres?
