Hello a friends wife who has been mountain biking for a couple of years wants to add a full suss bike to her ‘shed’ she has hardtail…xc racing rig…..and is looking for a frame with 4 inch plus travel, she has been offered very cheaply a giant vt………….are they any good or should she pay a little bit more and get a trance??

What do owners and ex owners think?

I’ve still got both. The VT has a very high bottom bracket, which I struggled with. The Trance is a better ride, it feels like it has more travel than it should. Climbs well too.

i had a vt and now got a trance.the trance is better but i always thought the vt was good.did some big rides onit and loved it.apart from if the front mech goes as mine did towards the end you struggle to find one that will fit because the new ones are to big.they work fine but if you bottom the back out it hits the mech and game over.ride on put a road bike mech on the front that didnt catch but i cant say it ever worked that good after.hence buying a trance
