Bought this off Singletrack to try Downhilling a lot of elbow grease and small cash injection and here are the results

Can I be the first to say, I like that. A lot!

Is that a strip down to raw for the front and respray for the swing arm?

    Very tasty. Well done!

Out of interest (and to fuel my jealousy) do you mind if I ask how much you paid for the original frame?

I paid £230 for the frame, forks, rear shock, cranks, pedals, grips, chain device, seatpost, saddle and the front and rear wheels.
No brakes, stem or handlebars in with that price

good work fella, just goes to show what can be done with a little bit of care, attention and elbow grease and you don’t need to spend three grand to ride the trails.

    Cheers everyone
The idea was to build a bike i could try Downhilling on with my son and maybe the odd uplift without spending a fortune.

Cost approx another £200 to finish which includes
New swing arm and chain guide bearings
    New fork seals
New softer shock and fork sprngs
Front and rear brakes ebay and singletrack
    New pads F&R
    Powder coating
Handlebars and stem from a friend

Nice job! How does it ride?

I do enjoy restoring old frames. Currently have a 2005 specialized fsr thatneeded a bit of TLC.

I do like that. I liked the Gemini when it first came out and you’ve done that one justice.

    Good work!

If theres one thing Id alter, it’d be the angle of the saddle. Angled back (nose up) itll help feel more out the way when going downhill and maybe help stop you sliding forward on the bike. Im guessing you’re not planning to ride it up hill much?

It’s a lovely bike but there’s far too much agreement here for a STW thread!

    Good work sir.

For less than £500 that is an absolute bloody bargain and decent looking too.

However the state of your lawn is an affront to my eyes and an insult to this forum.
