It’s going to be the Daily Mail in TV form isn’t it, for those who want their daily dosage of hatred and fear without actually needing to read.

Excellent, looking forward to the chance to watch. If it mirrors fox, talk radio, Australia sky news (I don’t know why the UK sky is such leftist tosh) then should be good.
If it annoys the usual snowflakey woke types more the better 🤣

    ah yes, the target demographic

I despise the use if the term “gammon”. I totally understand the type of people and views it represents, but the fact that we are happy to throw around what has become an insult to discuss someone with a different opinion to ours strikes me as being petty. Fighting prejudice with prejudice is a bit shit, really.

any time, anyone, be they a Celebrity or Sports Person takes a knee, they’re calling the complete destruction of your way of life whether you like it, or not.

Marriage proposals are going to look a bit different in the future eh?

Conversely, I think it is absolutely bob-on. The people it is applied to actively reject any attempt to engage in discourse about immigration, racism etc because it doesn’t sit with their blinkered world view. The level of cognitive dissonance displayed by your average gammon (e.g. “we want control of our borders”/”why can’t I go and live in Spain?”) would make a supercomputer crash spectacularly.

They are bigots and, on the whole, selfish morons. I think it is entirely apposite.

    They are bigots

And my view is that giving them an insulting name based on perceived physical appearance, is also bigotry.

An eye for an eye makes us all blind, even the well intentioned.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it was originally intended to be a descriptor for just physical appearance – just when chaps of a certain age and weight get a bit wound up and red in the face and start spluttering and shouting at the sky, they tend to go a bit pink and, well, uncooked ham in appearance.

    I agree it’s gone a little beyond it’s initial roots, but I still think it’s a good catch-all! 😉

    Kirsty Gallaher.

Think she used to host you’ve been framed or something similar and disappeared from the mainstream after being a bit gammony.

So we shouldn’t call them gammons, we should call them bigots? Right-oh. I think I can live with that. Nice and factual. Bigots it is.

People do seem a bit snowflakey about the term Gammon, tho’.

Urgh, I can’t wait until this is on at the in-laws’. This whole manufactured polarisation of politics is concerning for sure – just look what it’s achieved in the US.

As a side-note: I really don’t understand how ‘woke’ can be an insult. People proudly declaring their ignorance is so infuriating. I don’t get it.

I despise the use if the term “gammon”.

    You should check them again.

Sky is owned by Commcast, their most well known ‘Brand’ is CNBC, a Centre-Left Broadcaster.

In fairness to Sky News, AFAIK have always been independent and unbiased, despite who owns them.

Sky News Australia, whole other thing.

How do they get away with it? It (SNA) comes over somewhat like ‘Infowars’, only more depressing on account of it being named, funded and received as a bonafide ‘news’ channel.

In what universe can this be termed as racist?

Because it’s association with a particular skin colour

The fact that a BAME person wouldn’t be called a gammon even if they expressed the same beliefs (support for Brexit, war on drivers, antipathy to EU etc) demonstrates the issue

Divide and conquer? You’re well in the game now.

Finally got to go for a drink in our old local pub yesterday. It was under new ownership. As we were leaving Mrs P was verbally attacked by a random stranger/patron for her shown interest in the pub’s vegan menu items. Unfortunately she was within earshot (he was at the bar) and so he became animatedly offended.

“I hate vegans. Sorry, no offense but I hate them”

His friend/wife/sister/GF(?)stepped in and apologised on his behalf. So that was alright then 🙄

It’s a whole new (old) country out there.

You’re only welcome in your own country if you play their game/toe their line. And then they’ll turn in back on you. He was offended by our freedoms to not have to eat meat at our local. We laughed it off and left in good cheer. I’m sure his memory will be that he ‘conquered the offended snowflakes’.

Shall be returning for nut roast, veggie sausages and cider 🙂

Typical, trying to erase our culture. Now they’re trying to cancel Dickens!

One could argue that affluent middle aged men with rosy cheeks, beer bellies and reactionary politics are in fact: not a race…On the other hand it’s like all other shorthand slurs, (like black people and fried chicken or calling people snowflake) just another piece of the culture war that makes everyone’s life just that little bit less pleasant.

    a complex issue,

In which case the fact that Dickens was diversely racist against both forriners and puffed up white men is at least a step towards his rehabilitation. 🙂 I would probably expect a 21st century man to be a little more enlightened, and usually be disappointed to find the reverse.

PS Was a joke really, just echoing the normal bleating about cancel culture you hear from the GBeebies crowd.

PPS Kirsty Gallacher, eh? They do like hiring drink-drivers, don’t they?

whilst I have sympathy for the need for a way of describing a group with particular issues with people on cycles it’s not appropriate

They are currently interviewing Jed, from Oxford. He is a teenager. They are talking about his prom being cancelled. Big time.

Sound quality is appalling, I’ve dipped in a couple of times today and there has been a massive echo each time.

Update, Jed bought a new suit and can’t wear it to the prom.

I dunno, it’s probably a bit more polite than just calling people ‘Bigots’ and/or ‘Racists’ but also wonderfully descriptive, painting a perfect picture of the target(s) with a single word. Plus it’s kind of reciprocal innit:

    …snowflakey woke types…

They had plenty of names for those of us not on their wavelength, long before they were compared to a porcine product…

Ultimately if you were hoping for respectful discourse, without unpleasant name calling you’re out of luck, this is the shape of modern social and political “debate” in the UK now…

As a side-note: I really don’t understand how ‘woke’ can be an insult. People proudly declaring their ignorance is so infuriating. I don’t get it.

That’s half the point, indeed people who think labelling people, opinions or organisations they disagree with as “Antifa” tells a tale also.
To be labelled by some Gammony git as “Antifa” i.e. Anti-fascist, the very antithesis of an oppressive, enemy of freedom and inclusion, that’s kind of a badge of honour really. And of course helpfully outlines the mindset of the person applying, what they see as a slur…

Ultimately its (arguably) an indication of a free society when Populist, Right-wingers are free to start their own propaganda “News” channel, it immediately disproves the claims that their views and opinions have been stifled…

I suppose we’ll see how they get along with Offcom, the monologues are probably just a tester to see what the response is. If they’ve not picked up too many complaints after a few weeks, they’ll probably start ramping up the US imports, and we’ll see more ‘Red-scare’ gibberish, stories of Wokeness run wild and ‘Antifa’ and BLM pained as the enemies of <m>”our way of life”…

    Give them time…

I expect their view of what antifa is and yours is somewhat different. They might associate it as a group associated with street violence and property destruction who spend a lot of time and energy looking for people they disagree with to have a fight and throw things at police officers

Of course it probably not like that and is misrepresented by mainstream media
