    I’ve seen the basic Garmin 800 for as low as £260, which tips the scales for me.

    Does anyone know though what the base map is like? Any use for road riding?

    Pretty gash but you could install the maps from talkytoaster and improve them immeasurably.

    FWIW, SportPursuit are doing the 800 with the full UK at 1:50k for £270

    For road riding, I find the free openstreetmap ones much clearer than the OS ones anyway.
