The Boy has a new Space Chicken, I’ve said I’ll set it up tubeless for him, are the rims ready taped or do I need to get some? I’ve not taken the wheels off yet and won’t until I do the job, so it would be handy to know if I need to get some tape first?

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve taped them. Some have suggested the fitted rim tape is tubeless ready, but I’m not convinced.

They go up tubeless fine though – I think I’ve done three sets so far.

@igm thanks mate. I’ll get some tape. Bugger I was hoping they be done.

From memory I think OEM wheels aren’t taped ready, but aftermarket ones are

My Tempest ones weren’t taped from new, there is also a disclaimer from Fulcrum that only Schwalbe tubeless tyres are compatible with their wheels, but I’ve fitted several other brands with no issues.

The ones on my Cube weren’t taped, but once done they went up the easiest I’ve ever known, with Schwalbe Pro Ones.
