Off to the sun and warmth(i hope) in a couple of weeks. Going by reputation a road bike might not be the most pleasant of options. So i think i will take the mountain bike.

However i know nothing about spanish access laws, whether they have OS equivalent maps, i guess i could get them from the map shop in one of the back streets in central Bristol( i have forgotten the name, assuming it is still there?) if the maps exist. To be honest i don’t know how far it is from coast to coast by road, I can look at a map but what does that really tell you?

I know that Gran Canaria has lots of cacti, does FV?

Anything else anyone can think of to be aware of?

Not much help, I know, but I remember the first edition of MBUK I bought in about 1988, the cover article was Paul Hinton test riding a Swallow bike with the ‘new’ Campag Centaur groupset on Fuerteventura. I remember lots of pictures of downhills in deep pumice gravel. The article always made me want to ride there.
