IMO Babylon 5 has not aged well.
I watched it for the first time relatively recently. It’s really good but the first season is terrible.
It wasn’t great at the time. You had to stick with it for things to unfold after series 1, then it got VERY good… Until they rushed everything at the end.Posted 3 months ago
Thumbs up for Passengers and a special award for the cool spaceship, thanks for the recommend.Posted 3 months ago
The ideas and long story arcs compensate for the outdated sfx in Babylon 5.
Edge of Tomorrow was indeed a good romp, I couldn’t get into Killjoys but am looking forward to Altered Carbon (I get the feeling that Richard Morgan is not particularly well liked by Charlie Stross and his contemporaries).
I accidentally watched Paul recently, no spaceship awards but worth the time. Oblivion or Europa Report tonight.z1ppyMember

Why do you say this?
Not totally sure they needed to add more to the Kovac’s back story but we will see, looking forward to it but ready, as ever, to be disappointed
killjoy’s really? I preferred dark matter but even deleted that unwatched this weekPosted 3 months ago

I’ve been told by a usually good judge of film that Beyond Skyline is surprisingly good
I’ve never sat down to watch a movie and turned it off before the end in my puff. Until i watched that drivel. Only good thing was the large alien ‘mech’ creature design. Not even a so bad it’s good, or funny or anything, it made no sense and was just pure shite. Your mate must have been very, very drunk.Posted 3 months agomolgripsSubscriber
Anyone mentioned Travellers?
Netflix original, surprisingly ropey at first, but actually gets going eventually. The premise still seems to contain a gaping hole but there’s enough left unknown that it might actually be addressed. But the character and contextual depth is to the usual high Netflix standard if you watch carefully.
No spaceships at all though.Posted 3 months agorOcKeTdOgSubscriber
GotG is a fine example of its genre, it’s not pretending to be avant-garde or cutting edge to hide a story thats been used so many times before that you can work out what the reveal is long before the end.
I think you’ll like oblivion though, it’s got space ships and everything!Posted 3 months agojimjamMember

Not seen bright, but my teenage role-playing self is outraged that they’ve ripped off Shadowrun
That was exactly my thought too. (I used to GM Shadowrun in SR3 days.) [/quote]
I thought it was a rip off of Alien Nation, but there you go. No desire to watch it.Posted 3 months ago
The only thing with passengers is………he condemned someone to death chosen because she was fit, then lied to her, then started a relationship with her.10/10 for creepy weirdness
Your right .. i didn’t really get why people like the movie due to this.
I didn’t really like it as it’s a bit of a downer movie IMHOPosted 3 months ago
Oblivion was good, in its non-high brow way, no prizes for spaceships though.Posted 3 months ago
Good call from Rorschach.
The Martian only worked for me as a book – but really did work, I totally believed it.
Europa Report tonight, I’m still not decided whether Firefly or BSG gets a rewatch.
How is Cloud Atlas?
