I’m watching freeview with a box on a CRT telly. Freeview signal is great but I can hear the sound from terrestrial BBC1 in the background.

Have I set it up wrong or is something buggered?

Do you have anything else plugged in to it’s scart sockets – if yes make sure they’re turned off.

Nope, nothing else plugged in. Aerial in to freeview, scart to tv. There’s also a coax from the freeview to the tv but it appears to make no difference if I put it in or out

I think it’s the aerial, it stops if I jiggle the wire about

I had exactly the same thing with a borrowed set top box. I gave up in the end and bought a LG flatscreen with built in Freeview for £150 from Richer Sounds. Superb TV, job done!

Tell your neighbours to turn their telly down?

Sounds like poor shielding somewhere on the RF tuner

If you want a quick and dirty fix, take the back off and de-solder the tuner can off the board
