I would like to run a set of 32 Fox Forks, proably the F series model.

However my forks will only run 9mm QR as they are XC wheels, is it possible to run 9mm QR on the Fox’s 15mm axle’s? secondly is there any fox forks which run 9mm QR’s?

I also have found a nice pair of forks with 140mm travel, would it be barmy to put these on a 16.5″ frame?

No to the 15mm with 9mm I am afraid

What frame do you have Lewis?

Most Fox variants come with 9mm options

It’s a bit of a classic GT Outpost,
    Chris King Headset
    Cro-mo frame
    Sram x9 full kit out
I’m 6″ cant face selling the beauty though,

    Hmm, http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/854553/

They have taken my fancy they probably run th 15mm though do they?

You can get 9mm qr fox forks, in fact they tend to be cheaper than 15mm ones
As for 140mm forks on a 16.5 frame, it depends what frame it is

Those are standard QR so would fit your wheels perfectly…they use a standard 9mm QR lever and not a 15mm thru-axle.

Your frame may not work so well with a 140mm fork…how classic is classic?

The frame is fairly modern looking, I dont have any pictures of it,
it was an expensive frame set at the time, probably 2003 model or something, just had her powdercoated and has come up really nice.
No cracks or anything just what a 140mm travel would be like

If you get fox floats you can reduce the travel to 120 or 100 internally with spacers, or with fox talas they have travel adjust so if 140 is too much you can reduce the travel to 120 or 100 with a switch on the top of the fork

ah might have to look into that, you think 140mm will be to much then?

I do…but without knowing age can’t say for certain…but I think 140mm will be too much, but that is just me…if it can be reduced then braw.

It probably will be a bit much, but if you get float or talas forks and 140 is too much you can run em a bit lower, and in the future if you upgrade your frame then you can put em back up to 140

Does it require aftermarket products to change the travel?
or has the fork been designed with intent for this to happen?

Floats use little spacers that fit inside the fork, not hard to do, you need to open them up and fit the spacers
Talas ones are on the fly and can be adjusted while your riding, it’s just a switch on top of the fork leg
