Hate to kick a man when he’s down but as a long term subscriber and forum lurker, this implementation has been a bit shambolic. To have so many of the fundamentals not working is beyond ‘a few bugs in the system’. Speed and functionality aren’t even on par with some 1 man band website forums. As a Mac user, the speed and clumsiness is particularly frustrating as it seems even worse on Mac than PC, and certainly slower on desktop than mobile.
Appreciate that the software is probably far more complicated than a layman like me can understand but since the previous version seemed to work so well, why was the new version introduced in such an unfinished state? This seems a perfect case of if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it (but there may have been reasons beyond what is visible that made the change necessary).
Having lived through the pain of several large scale software changes professionally the moto seems to be test, test and test again prior to implementation. That doesn’t seem to have happened here.
Surely there must be some recourse to the developers that sold this software to you?
I have cancelled all of my print subscriptions except Singletrack (and there a lot!). With the internet of things I can get the news I want quicker than waiting a month. Despite much of the magazine content finding its way onto the site I persevered with Singletrack partly to help support/fund/acknowledge the broader community side. I am not about to cancel my subscription in protest, but it is another nail in the coffin. When print media disappears (which seems an inevitability) the strength of the website will be all the more important.
