Slowly upgrading bits on my old carrera so eventually I’ll have a reasonably nice road bike, unsure whether to upgrade the hi-ten fork to crabon or the horrible wheelset to the shimano RS01. Both around the same price…

Wheels will make the biggest difference initially.

    Then get the fork. 😀

    brake blocks!

seriously, standard roadie brake blocks are rubbish.

a set of decent blocks can be had for around a tenner, the difference_felt:£_spent ratio is unbeatable.

(and softer brake blocks are nicer to your rims too)

Wheels then frame. I struggle to think what noticeable benefit an upgraded fork will give you when not married to a similarly upgraded frame. The wheels can be transferred to an upgraded frame but there would be no point in carrying over the forks.

    for brake blocks?

ok, i’ve been using clarks triple compound jobs for a year or so.

but swisstop greens are considered the ‘default’.
