    I imagine it’s pretty rapid on the flats, but a bit slow and wandery on the hills.

    Not very fast in general is my experience – the aerodynamics are rubbish and you can’t get a lot of power to the pedals. Comfy and easy to get a foot down, though.

    Recumbents are great, upright bikes are great – something in the middle is really the worst of both IMO.

    No, though you can’t do that on a recumbent either – but on a recumbent you have something to push against so you can get lots of power to the pedals.

    Who sells chains that long?

    I’ve always thought that one of the best properties of chains was the ability to add and remove links in order to get the correct length for almost any application.
