Ebay isnt coming up with the goods at the moment so I’ve been looking into getting bent rims on car wheels refurbed.

There seem to be two schools of thought from wheel refurb companies. No dont do it from those who sell wheels and dont seem to have the kit to true rims to do it and yes do from companies that have the kit. Although they do say work is subject to assesment.

(yes this should have been in chat not bike)

I had a couple of buckled Ford alloys, for a Fiesta, straightened and have done 20000 since with no issues. As above it depends on how badly they are damaged, whether there are any cracks and the competency of the guy/gal who does it.

Prestige Wheels in Furness Vale are brilliant. They did a great job on refurbing the wheels on my Mk2 – friendly, efficient, knowledgeable etc. I’d pop over and see what they think. I bent a wheel badly on the Hardknott a few years ago and, after going through a similar dilemma, decided it simply wasn’t worth the risk of straightening it, but it was quite badly dinged. As above, it all depends on how dinged they are.

    Also look at

to see if a refurb is cost effective against their prices.

I bought some Alfa replicas and they have been fine – can’t remember the wheel manufacturer but they are large and with all the quality certificates.

When you buy wheels off Ebay you could be buying something that was repaired by this guy:

Or you might be buying a secondhand car with these wheels even.
