We’re looking to go to the FoD/Wye Valley area in the spring for a weekend of biking and possibly a couple of beers 😉

Can anyone recommend a pod site/bunkhouse/pub accommodation that would be suitable for 3 or 4 burly* mountain bikers?

Doesn’t need to be particularly fancy, clean with beds, showers and nearby food & beers

    *Actual burliness may vary

The Fountain inn in Parkend has a bunkhouse next door.

+1 for Saracens Head, my favourite pub in the universe.
Not really handy for the bike centre if that’s what you have in mind, but an hour of meandering mostly off-road riding will get you there. Pete the landlord might offer route advice if you can catch him in a quiet moment.

    Thanks for the replies.

Saracens Head is a bit smarter than we’re accustomed to, nice though.

Fountains Inn bunkhouse doesn’t take bookings for groups of less than 9 according to the website 😕

Right in the centre of Park End, short walk to pubs, short ride to Dowies etc

Would’ve suggested Tony and Elaine, but wasn’t sure how close the four guys are for sharing double beds lol.

But can’t fault Castlemaine mill, been a few times now.

    Whitemead is good but pricey.
    Hand for the trails though.

There’s a pub in Staunton called the ‘White horse inn’ which does good food, has accommodation and two camping pods is the garden. Stayed there for a night. It was cheap too.

I’ve stayed at fountain inn in a group of 2 and 4 on another occassion. Might be worth trying to speak someone. Its been a few years since i was there though, 9 minimum seems a bit specialist though!
