Brilliant transformed my running last year, do a weekly session on one – calves and thighs and it works wonders

The December Cycling Plus has an article all about using them, with pictures.

Ah nice, I always forget about YouTube for stuff like this, I normally just watch sleepwalking dogs.

Yeah, I’ve been using one for a couple of years, brilliant well worth having. I even carry mine in the car to races now If I’m staying over night somewhere!

Here’s a good video I was shown when I got mine. This is part one, part two should be there somewhere too.

    worth every penny.
a world of pain the first time you use one but persevere and it gets easier as your legs loosen after a week or so of short 10min sessions every day, i use it less now, only when legs feel tight.

Expect pain with a side serving of pain.

It’s noticeably helped my running. They are pretty cheap, nothing to loose really.

the cheap white soft foam rollers quickly soften and distort, buy the firmer blue versions. make sure they are the long ones too as the you’ll constantly be rolling off the short ones.

get to good one first or buy twice.

This is a good foam roller routine put together by a friend of mine (who is a sports physio and a pretty handy runner):
