Fleetwood Mac on BBC4
PG rather insipid I thought.
Certain indulgences took their toll and he’s been ‘fragile’ since the late 60s. Saw him on the same tour (I think) and he started more than one song without his guitar plugged in/turned up, but there were flashes of brilliance. Man of the World was just perfect.
Don’t rate any of the MOR post-Green stuff.Posted 5 years agoJoeGSubscriber
If you like Albatross, you should probably give a listen to Sunny Side of Heaven.
When I was in high school (Jr or Sr year, IIRC) the Tango in the Night was real big. So that led me to Rumors which I ordered through one of those record club deals. In college, there was a used record store nearby where I bought cassette tapes for $2-3 each so I heard a lot of the older Fleetwood Mac stuff plugged into my Sony Walkman on the way to and from classes.
Fleetwood Mac wasn’t big in the US till the self-titled “Fleetwood Mac” album, then Rumors was HUGE. Most people in the US only know the band from this point forward and have no idea bout the older blues influenced era. They think Black Magic Woman is a Santana song!
Edit – and they also don’t know that “Oh Well” is a Mac tune either. Another version (by the Rockets, I think) gets a lot more airplay.Posted 5 years ago
