    I think that bottom bracket’s going to drop off as soon as you turn that non-driveside crank.

    Probably easier if you’d just removed the wheels and put the frame into the vice on the bench.

    No worries, those are my headset tools. I’ve got a proper one but I stopped using it years ago.

    That’s my portable vice, it’s just a little ‘un and it’s pretty handy sometimes as a sort of mega g-clamp- doesn’t twist and easier to get square, and can put on a lot more force if you want to really mash stuff. Albeit a little heavy 🙂 Trick I got from my grandad, they used it to bodge something in the landing gear of beauforts IIRC.

    As a bash guard it’s probably a bit OTT and it’ll be a bit of a drag on the climbs. But in your case it’s probably better to be safe than sorry.
