That will be a flipping long ride for a chav if it turns up round my way. I presume you have contacted the police and insurance company?

Hmm – nice bikes, sounds like you’ve been scoped and targetted. Tough break mate, I’ll keep an eye out.

Also, keep a constant watch on ebay for the bits and bobs. A friend of mine had his bike stolen IN SHEFFIELD and managed to recover the entire thing, and press charges based on his handlebars popping up on a sale.

    Good luck.

Oh yeah – Police say it’s 50/50. Not the sort of bikes the scruffs round here ride round on so you never know. Might get picked up. Insurance are sending a ‘loss adjuster’ round. Hopefully covered as the garage is a brick built extn to the house and entry was forced (though it didn’t take much).

Pook, think you’re right. They knew. Makes my guts twist just thinking of it. Love those bikes and they won’t be easy to replace. I will keep an eye on ebay.

Sorry to hear fella. I’ll keep my eyes peeled as I am on abbeydale road. I had my stiffee stolen in sheffield last october and no luck finding the thieving scumbags.

Starting to doubt myself now, can anyone else have a look at my link to check?

nah, very doubtful as most if not all components are different, good shout though!

Hmm it just seems to unlikely, right size / model / colour and it has been listed at the right time. It has also been listed on southerndownhill by a new member with no previous posts…

Could be professionals if they replace all the parts and seem to have known what they stole

I doubt it is the same frame.

it was well meaning but very clearly wrong.

suggesting that a perfectly good seller is a fence isn’t really helping

Thanks guys I appreciate it, but definitely stolen in Sheffield between 00:30 and 08:00 on Tues 26th (i.e. Mon night). I was riding it on Monday 🙁
I had seen that on eBay but that bike has different post (layback) cranks, bb, bars, fork.
So unless it was incredibly well planned in advance it isn’t mine. (Nevertheless I’ve asked for the frame no)

It could have been pre-planned if they knew what they were going to nick you could post it on ebay the day before…. but that is seriously unlikely!

Really sorry to hear about your bikes, just trying to do my bit for the greater good 🙂

    And I appreciate it, thanks.
This could be the back wheel off my Soul though.

Just look at the sellers name !!!
Absolutely no way of knowing though. 🙁
    Seems unlikely I guess.

There really isn’t anyway of knowing about the back wheel, maybe ask if he has any other spare bits going?

    JohnnyPanic
    Full Member

Even if he does, I could probably only identify a few of the bits for sure. I’m going to go mad trawling eBay etc. over the next few days thinking, ‘is that mine?’

Next bike I have may have to have some obvious but secret markings on the bits..

I would be on ebay / every bike forum in the land if I had my bike stolen! The frame still seems to be too much of a coincidence…

Blokes replied with a different frame number…

Does the frame number check out with Commencal or can you not check this? It sadly probably is a genuine sale 🙁

    JohnnyPanic

It’s in a similar format to mine, but different. Not going to beat myself up over it. That auction did start 2 days before it was nicked.

    thepodge

doesn’t matter if it matches with Commencal. its not his frame. more than one has been sold in the UK and we’ve already proved it was listed before it was stolen.

Hmm I hope your insurance covers it, I’m building my dream bike at the moment and I’m seriously considering securing it in my garage properly to make sure the insurance will cover it
