I am trying to run firefox under linus but keep getting a message saying that firefox is already running and I need to kill the process or restart the computer.
I grepped for any firefox processes – killed a rogue process, tried to start firefox and got the same message.
I restarted my computer and still no luck.
went to the /.mozilla/firefox directory and removed the parentlock file – firefox started but it wont allow me to access the history or bookmarks file. Quit firefox and restarted it to see if it would work again and am getting the same error message again – firefox is still running so restart.
How can I kill these rogue processes please?

Hmmm – have already deleted the parentlock file so trying to create a new profile – no luck in opening the profile manager……one for the IT boys.
