A group of us are looking at having a week in there in the summer. Normally we go to somewhere with lifts (or a smaller group of us have gone full guided weeks). For this trip we want to keep it mainly relaxed and not all will be biking so that kind of rules going on most guided weeks.

The group will probably consist of a couple of non riders, a couple of roadies and 4-5 mountain bikers.

    Anyone have any recommendations for-

Renting a chalet/house for a week (we are all old enough to prefer a little space and luxury over the cheapest options).
    Organizing uplifts.
Getting a guide (maybe linked to the uplift provider)

I’ve never been in the summer, but have ridden with people who have. Words of warning are: It’s seriously bloody hot there at that time of year. I’m amazed there arn’t more roadies around, it looks a great place to ride if that’s your thing.

    1. AirBnB – there are plenty of options.

    2. Uplifts – have look on the resort website, it lists all the official uplift providers. Everyone’s pricing is set by the resort, and if you are doing full days (if you arn’t filling a van, you will have others in your group) a guide is included in your 50 euros each price.

Generally you end up eating in Agritourismo style restaurants for lunch which means a lot of local food & wine, for not much money.

You can do single uplifts to certain spots (Rollercoster/NATO/etc) which are from memory 10 euros a pop, but IME the guided days are certainly worth it, as it can be a right pain linking trails together to get the best from the day.

Different uplift companies do different style uplifts, most are van & trailer, but you can do the freeride tours, backcountry days etc, which are landrovers & trailers, which tend to be a bit more remote, riding the lesser know trails.

    3. Guides – see above.

Went last year and have just this morning booked a apartment via air B&B for the week after the ews

So as above air B&B seemed to have what your looking for but for a large group you may have to stay away from the beach or Borgio as im not sure there are property’s that will offer space and that many beds

Saw this yesterday but we wanted somewhere closer to the sea

Uplifts guides covered above we use one of the landrover back country companies (Just Ride) and couldn’t recommend Lou and Alessandro highly enough (they even have some secret bits)

Dependent on what guiding you have had before and from where you may think its all a little laid back. but you soon just get into it and enjoy the amazing trails

    hope this adds some value

Edit – Summer hot hot Hot .. was 28 in october this year !

I would also add it is utterly fantastic there and almost as good as the woods behind Nationwide in Swindon
